For my thesis at ITP I developed a system to monitor electricity use at an appliance/outlet level. Plug-in monitors sent electricity usage data over a Zigbee mesh network to a central database for visualization and analysis. This project became the basis for the smart grid firm Grounded Power, which was acquired by Tendril in the fall of 2010.
A prototype energy bill developed for my ITP thesis.
